As U.S. Cleans Its Energy Mix, It Ships Coal Problems Abroad

National Geographic published an online article March 15th, 2013 about about the implications of US coal exports for global greenhouse emissions.  Despite overall reductions in domestic carbon dioxide emissions in the US, our coal exports to Europe and Asia mean that our domestic reduction will only have a small impact on global warming.  If the Northwest becomes a new link to increased coal exports to Asia, our local pollution concerns will contribute to the even larger global warming issue.

    Great article and energy series from National Geographic! They have a link in it to another article Seeking a Pacific Northwest Gateway for U.S. Coal specifically on the proposed Northwest Coal ports. Worth reading!
