Canadian Scientists Victory on Monitoring at Tar Sands

New Oilsands Watchdog a Victory for Science:

The Montreal Gazette reports on a “victory for scientific integrity over politics and business” in Canada on monitoring of tar sands petroleum extraction impacts on environment.  US pipeline activists probably contributed to this breakthrough for a reliable scientific assessment of the impacts of petroleum extraction from the Albert tar sands.

“The cancellation of the Keystone pipeline together with Europe’s threat to ban oilsands products and the constant pressure from the scientific community finally broke the barriers to change with Friday’s announcement.”

Author of the article William Marsden is the author of Stupid to the Last Drop, a 2008 book about Alberta’s oilsands that won the National Business Book of the Year Award, and Fools Rule: Inside the Failed Politics of Climate Change, published in 2011.
